Eyelash Perm…. Would You Try It?
Remember the hair of the 1980s? Wild and crazy curls were all the rage thanks to a hair treatment called the perm. When perming hair, chemicals are applied to the hair to create body, volume, and texture. It’s one of the best ways to turn straight hair curly. But in our age of flirty lashes, many ladies find themselves constantly looking for the best eyelash curlers, curling mascaras, and false eyelashes to get a perfect look on their straight eyelashes.
Turns out, there’s a way to apply the perm to your eyelashes! With an eyelash perm, you can get the just-finished look of an eyelash curler that lasts for weeks, through showers and makeup removers. If you’ve got stick-straight lashes that are stubborn to constantly curl for maximum levels of flirt, an eyelash perm might be a great option for you.
Why eyelash perm is popular
The main benefit to getting an eyelash perm is that your eyelashes will always look curled, without the use of an eyelash curler! Curled eyelashes give the illusion of being longer than they really are. Plus, as an extra added bonus, they also give the eye a more opened look. Don’t you notice how much wider awake you look once you’ve curled your eyelashes early in the morning? This is the same effect! As well, an eyelash perm might be more economical and less taxing on your makeup collection. With perma-curled eyelashes, you may find that you don’t have to wear as much mascara, or none at all! Many aestheticians that perform eyelash extensions and other beauty services may be able to perform eyelash perms. Always visit a licensed aesthetician, and inquire as to whether or not they perform eyelash perms. It’s a tricky process, so be sure you’re visiting an aesthetician who knows their stuff!
How it works
So, how does an eyelash perm work? First, a solution is applied to the lashes. Then, they are curled with a specially heated eyelash curler. Some aestheticians or specialists will even use miniature rolling curlers, like a smaller version of the curlers you use on your hair! While the lashes set, the aesthetician will wrap your lashes in foil or plastic wrap—again, just like a hair perm!—and you will likely need to sit for thirty minutes to an hour to allow the perm solution to take full effect.
Once the process is done, the perm will last anywhere from a month to three months, depending on how well your treat your eyelashes. If an eyelash falls out, it won’t grow back curled! Of course, you should continue to use proper eye care, using only gentle eye makeup remover and cleansers to prevent pulling out any eyelashes and keep the shape of the perm.
But remember, the process isn’t completely risk-free. Applying any chemicals near your eyes always holds a risk for irritation and allergic reactions. If you have sensitive eyes to begin with, then this probably isn’t the procedure for you to try. But, if you’re always reaching for the eyelash curler and curling mascara, you might want to try getting an eyelash perm!
