Makeup & Glasses: Do’s and Don’ts

Spectacle-wearing females don’t fret. Just because you have to wear glasses, it doesn’t mean that your beauty look has to suffer. It is a common and widespread misconception that women who wear glasses can’t wear false lashes. That is simply untrue. Why should a pair of glasses stop you from showing off your features, experimenting with beauty products, and looking and feeling your best? There’s no reason why glasses should cramp your style. We’re here to help with some helpful hints and tips on how to wear false lashes with your glasses. Here’s what to do and what not to do when wearing false lashes with your specs:

DO Prime your lashes.

There are a couple of steps involved in priming your natural lashes for the application of your false lashes of choice. First, curl your lashes. This is a vital step to ensure that your lashes don’t sit straight and into your lenses. Second, put on mascara. You might be tempted to not put on mascara and let your falsies do the talking, but that is a mistake. The lash glue needs something to adhere to, and mascara is a great way to make sure that your lashes will hold firmly in place. This is especially important if you’re natural lashes are thin and sparse.

DO study up on different kinds of false lashes

False lashes are not one size fits all, contrary to what most people might think. You should understand what each kind of false lash does. Here is a quick guide.

DON’T forget to cut your falsies

Individual lashes are best since you can customize the placement of your false lashes. If you have lash strips, cut them to better fit into your lashes. Dealing with smaller strips as opposed to one long lash strip is easier as well, and will give you a more natural look.

DO use tweezers as an applicator

Using tweezers will give you make lash application more precise. Simply dip each lash strip or piece into the lash glue and place on top or in between of real lashes.

DO go for a statement lip

Wearing a bold color on your lips will give your face more balance. Since your specs frame the top half of your face, framing or highlighting the bottom half of your face with a strong lip is a great way to achieve a balanced beauty look.

DO wear eyeliner

Don’t be afraid to emphasize your eyes even more with eyeliner. The thicker or more flamboyant your frames are, the thicker you can line your lids. It is recommended, however, to only line your top lids. Lining the bottom of your eyes will create an unflattering shadow.

DON’T wear too much shimmer

Wearing a lot of blush of shimmer will compete with your frames. Just one brush will do. Or better yet, opt for a natural cheek tint.
